Progress of the flour factory Leiden in the picture
The former Flour Factory (Meelfabriek) in Leiden is being redeveloped into a residential area. Old factory buildings are being converted into homes, a hotel, a spa & wellness, cafes, restaurants, galleries, shops and office spaces for creative companies, but there is also demolition and new construction taking place. Almost the entire complex is a national monument.
The construction of phase 1 of the Meelfabriek is almost complete. In this phase, the old mill building and riffel room were converted into lofts. A 3-layer underground parking garage has also been built in the courtyard (after the workshop has been demolished).
Phase 2 has now started. The construction of the Singeltoren is in full swing, this is a new residential tower of 45 meters high. When the tower is finished, it will accommodate 32 apartments.
Pieters had a video made about the progress of the project (by AMMO - Amber Heij).
