Tower POST Rotterdam is starting to take shape
The construction of POST on the Coolsingel in Rotterdam is in full swing. The tower is starting to take shape, as can be seen in the photos below.
POST is the former main post office of Rotterdam and one of the few remaining historic buildings in Rotterdam. The national monument will house a hotel and a new residential tower will be built in the former courtyard. This apartment tower will be 154 meters high and will be placed on a 25 meter high table construction.
The core walls have been poured up to and including the 19th floor. These are walls of 650 mm and 500 mm thick. In a few weeks the highest level of the shear walls will be reached and only the core will continue to the roof.
A few layers below, work is underway on the floor of the 16th floor. These are floors of 250 mm thick in concrete quality C55/67.
The recently poured floor of the 15th floor has included collapsible facilities for the crane. When the 15th floor is sufficiently paved, the crane will climb a little higher again.
The developer of the project is Omnam Group and the architects involved are ODA New York and Braaksma & Roos Architecten. Pieters Bouwtechniek provides the structural advice.
