State Secretary Van Veldhoven opens KSI

On Friday 23 November, State Secretary Stientje van Veldhoven will open the new Plastic Sorting Plant (KSI) in Heerenveen, which HVC, Omrin and Midwaste have built together. In a modern way, more than 65 kilotons of plastic will be sorted annually for reuse. A unique collaboration for the future, which ensures that plastic waste is sorted in our own country and made suitable for reuse.

In order to achieve a circular economy it is necessary that the recycling of plastic is considerably improved. Pieters is the constructive and architectural designer and developer of the buildings where plastic waste is separated into reusable raw materials. The waste is here sorted by Omrin into five mono streams that can be recycled and serve as a raw material for waste containers, vacuum cleaners or coffee makers, for example.

KSI Omrin: Together for a beautiful and clean world, that's what we want. A world in which we do not have waste, but raw materials for new products. Making plastic a second life is central. We can achieve this optimally by sorting mono streams to the highest possible quality. In Heerenveen, on the Ecopark De Wierde, it is now happening, so that we can further stimulate high-quality recycling of plastic and packaging.
