Highest point project "Bij de Zijl"
The highest point of the "Bij de Zijl" project was reached on Wednesday 16 October 2019. Bij de Zijl is being built at the former ROC location in Leiderdorp. The former ROC location is on the Leidsedreef on the corner of the Engelendaal and the Oude Spoorbaan (Provincial Road) in Leiderdorp, next to the LOI building.
There are 42 owner-occupied homes in Bij de Zijl: 10 water homes, 19 court homes and 13 terrace homes. In addition, Bij de Zijl consists of two apartment buildings. A residential tower of 70 meters high with 104 free sector rental properties and an apartment block with 36 social rental properties. All houses and buildings are made with a warm, light-colored brick, which makes them form a beautiful whole. The terrace houses and court houses are situated around a green park and part of the single-family houses is on the water. This creates a lively, varied neighborhood.
The first pile was driven for this large housing project on July 16, 2018, so that after a start of 2 years of preparation with different implementation variants, construction could finally start.
The most structurally striking part is the 70-meter-high residential tower. In close collaboration with developing contractor Vinkbouw and architect KAW, a system has been devised to raise the tower relatively quickly. The floor plans have been cleverly laid out so that use can be made of a tunnel construction system with a fast completion time. In addition, all façade walls are designed as prefab sandwich elements, with the masonry already applied to the prefab outer sheet. The prefab is part of the main supporting structure at some places and sometimes only fills the facade. The interconnections proved to be crucial, taking into account both the structural operation of the components and the possibilities of assembly and execution sequence during the realization phase.
