First pile for ROC Horizon College in Purmerend
The first pile for the new MBO school building at the Karekietpark was struck at 4 pm on Thursday 8 March. Construction work has now begun, after years of preparation.
In this new educational building the Horizon College and the Regio College will work together intensively to offer the region an attractive training program.
In the building, there will be training courses in the field of trade and services, welfare, healthcare, economy and health care. The building displays its courses both outside and inside and hereby they show the pride that belongs to the craftsmanship. The compact design of the building encourages meeting and exchange, but also offers room for concentration and small scale.
The school shows as a calm building, with red masonry that is bricked with craftsmanship. By playing with color nuances, stone depth and masonry, a façade is made that fits perfectly with the Horizon College and Regio College.
The building has a well-organized atrium in the heart with all the classrooms. All classrooms are located on the outer façade with openable parts in the façade. By combining light colors with clear lacquered wooden frames creates an attractive and relaxed environment.
Pieters is the structural engineer for this project until the DO phase.
