Construction update New Defense in Utrecht

The construction of De Nieuwe Defense in Utrecht is in full swing.

The New Defense is a new residential area, along the Merwede Canal. This district is located on the former Defense Grounds in Utrecht, just a 10-minute walk from the city center. A total of approximately 800 homes are being built here, varying in different types and available for both purchase and rental. There is a parking garage underneath the buildings. There is a lot of greenery on the deck and roofs. The roof of block 3 will become a publicly accessible roof garden.

The New Defense will be realized in three phases. Phase 1 is almost ready. This phase includes the construction of blocks 1 and 2, consisting of 80 social rental homes for Mitros and 211 owner-occupied homes. The owner-occupied homes in this phase are mainly spacious family homes, large apartments and penthouses. The homes in block 1 are now occupied by the owners. Block 2 is being completed.

Phase 2 has also started. Block 3  is now in progress, the piles have been driven and foundation work is currently underway.Block 5 is also in progress, the shell is almost ready.
