Delivery of building Genmab Research Center
The delivery of the new research building of Biotechbedrijf Genmab has been completed by Dura Vermeer. Pieters was involved as a main contractor from the preliminary design to completion. Biotech company Genmab is an international company specializing in the development of human antibodies for the treatment of cancer. The company has entered into an agreement with the construction company Dura Vermeer and landowner Utrecht University for the development and realization of this at the Utrecht Science Parc.
The project covers 11,250 m2, including offices, laboratories, meeting rooms, meeting and concentration centers, an auditorium, a science café, a restaurant and a parking garage. The building is located at a viewpoint on the main access road of the Science Parc. It reflects its user's core qualities as high quality, innovation, dynamic, transparency and recognizable. It has an open structure with overcrowding of 16m long lines of sight and consists of two beech-shifted beams with vertically-faced facades, and between them a prominent visible atrium provided with locally-positioned "floating islands" which greatly contribute to the interaction between the different users.
The work environment is high quality, offering optimum comfort and a high degree of functionality and flexibility. The organisations who are involved in the research and development facilities aim for the BREEAM-NL Excellent label.
