The Warren winner Amsterdam New Construction Award 2024

The new construction project De Warren on IJburg has won the Amsterdam New Construction Prize 2024, the public award for new construction in the city. The project received more than 25 percent of the votes.

The Warren
The Warren is a project on Center Island with 36 energy-positive, wooden, social and medium-priced rental homes that are rented out under its own management to the members of the housing cooperative. 3 years ago, De Warren started working with its architect Natrufied Architecture and 50 community members to design a sustainable and social building. It is the first self-build housing cooperative in Amsterdam. With this building, this construction group shows that sustainable and affordable living in Amsterdam is within reach.

The Amsterdam New Construction Prize
The Amsterdam New Construction Award is the public award for new construction in Amsterdam. These are projects that were completed in the city in the past year. The prize is organized by Amsterdam Woont, Gemeente Amsterdam, AT5 and Bouwend Nederland.

This year 78 projects are participating. In the preliminary round, the public jury nominated the best 10 projects. All new construction projects larger than 4 homes and completed from August 2022 to August 2023 are automatically included.
