Celebration start demolition old Designschool

On Wednesday, May 3, 2017, the celebration took place around the demolition work of the old Designschool at the Zeeburgerdijk 112 in Amsterdam. Normally there is always a celebration of the first pole for a new building, but in this project the start of the demolition is enough reason for a party. At this celebration, future residents and stakeholders were invited, so Pieters Bouwtechniek was also present.

The old Designschool consists of two contemporary buildings. A building from 1914 and one of 1969. The buildings are part of a building block at Zeeburgerdijk 112 and the Billitonstraat 1. Both building sections have spacious classrooms with high ceilings and large windows. A unique base for realizing very special homes. In particular, each house is unique in design. The 25 residents have been granted the freedom to design their own property within this existing property.

Pieters Bouwtechniek has an advisory function to the buyers regarding the constructive design / elaboration. In addition, in the 1914 part there will be a new lift with a recessed floor. The characteristic school building is fully preserved and features a collective roof terrace, solar panels, a common garden and attractively designed spaces to meet each other. The roof floors of the 1914 building get the function of flooring. This is achieved by means of a recess which creates an additional living layer. Due to this change of function, the entire existing roof must be strengthened. In the former gym, an in-house parking garage is being realized.

Various breakthroughs in brickwork walls have been established. The houses are equipped with balconies. A completely new steel staircase pencil (outside of the existing building) with bordes is being realized, just like a new foundation. Inside the existing staircase from 1914 a new stairwell is also placed, in the part from the 2nd floor leading to the top.
