Catharina bridge, most beautiful cover

The Catharina bridge in Leiden has been elected as the most beautiful cover of Cement 2016

In the annual cover election, Cement 2016/8 cover, with the Catharina bridge in Leiden, was elected by Cement readers as the most beautiful cover of Cement 2016. A whopping 66% of the votes went to the image of the sleek, S-shaped bridge of ultra high performance concrete (UHPC).

With a length of 36 m and a tapering thickness of 425 mm at the supporting points to 275 mm at the centre of the span, the Catharina bridge is the longest and thinnest UHPC-bridge in the Netherlands.
