Start building a unique child center De Vindplaats

AMSTERDAM - The construction of the child center De Vindplaats on the Jan den Haenstraat in Amsterdam can start, now that the signatures have been put under the contracting agreement on April 22, 2021. In August 2022, the doors of the unique child center will open for parents, employees and children from 0 to 13 years old. The renovation gives the school board AWBR and AKROS Childcare the opportunity to jointly offer education and childcare under one roof, thus creating a promising environment for all children in the neighbourhood.

All children welcome
The Vindplaats will have an important position in the neighbourhood. New construction means an upgrade of the environment. Local residents and parents who want to use the new building to meet each other are most welcome. The Vindplaats wants to be a reflection of the neighborhood and that is why all children are welcome. Children who need extra challenge or support can count on the Vindplaats.

Learning through experience
The new building on Jan den Haenstraat fits seamlessly with the concept of the Vindplaats child center. The building will have a children's kitchen, dance studio, theater and vegetable gardens and there will also be many open spaces. The square, together with the
green area with many challenging play options. The building will be sustainable with green roofs and the possibility to collect rainwater. Vegetable gardens and a greenhouse will be built on the roof.

The child center wants children to learn by experiencing and doing. Children become owners of their own development and driven teams of teachers, pedagogical staff and support staff guide them in this so that they can develop optimally and thus get the best opportunities.

Open in August 2022
The new building will be located on the location of the Narcis-Querido school, parts of this school building will be reused. The students of the Narcis-Queridoschool now live together with the students of primary school De Roos in the building at Reinier Claeszenplein 12. After opening in August 2022, children and employees of both primary schools and AKROS childcare (nursery, preschool and BSO) will play, learning and working in the new child center: the Vindplaats.
