Tuin van Noord nominated for the R.A.P.

Pieters project Garden of North has been nominated for the Rotterdam Architecture Prize.

The Rotterdam Architecture Prize
The Rotterdam Architecture Prize annually highlights the best new buildings in the city. This independent prize for the city of Rotterdam is an initiative of the municipality of Rotterdam, organized by AIR, Architecture Institute Rotterdam. Every year, the best buildings are awarded the RAP jury prize and the RAP audience prize, intended for the winning teams of client, designer and builder.

Garden of the North
The monumental prison complex De Noordsingel in the Old North of Rotterdam has changed from a closed environment into an open and green habitat where you can live, work and relax. The design is by WDJ Architecten and landscape architect Quadrat.

The Garden of North is a unique project. A completely new part of Rotterdam has been created here, while retaining all its cultural-historical value. Most parts of the building have survived and have been given a new purpose. Think of owner-occupied homes, catering, residential and work units, office spaces and many other social functions.

From the 49 entries, the jury selected ten buildings that show the quality of architecture in Rotterdam in its entirety. They are not only eligible for the jury prize of 2021, but also for the audience award.

Presentation
The festive presentation of the Rotterdam Architecture jury prize and public award will take place during the Rotterdam Architecture Month on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.
