Timber

Wooden structures have been made for thousands of years. At Pieters we also have much experience with special wooden structures, often for special architecture. We were already working on our first projects with CLT around 2005, a material application that was still unknown at the time. The construction world has been slowly shaken up over the past 10 years. Wood became the means to make construction sustainable. A biobased building material that has extracted and stored CO2 from the air. Wood should be increasingly used in residential construction and taller buildings, to contribute to global climate goals..

Pieters is at the forefront of timber developments for residential and high-rise buildings. Projects such as  Patch22 , Top-Up and Hotel Jakarta in Amsterdam and Sawa  in Rotterdam are innovations in complex wooden structures. At the same time, we do not focus blindly on wooden constructions.

Sustainable construction goes much further than making a wooden structure. Moreover, it is not realistic to make 100% of a building in wood, take the foundation for example. There is simply insufficient money, materials, knowledge and there are insufficient suppliers to make everything in wood from tomorrow onwards. That is why we continuously invest in development in the field of sustainable construction in all materials. In the correct quantification of true sustainability. In circularity and reuse. And in sharing knowledge with our customers about sustainability in projects and structures.

Other projects of Pieters in wood include Koning Willem I College in Den Bosch, Superhub Meerstad in Groningen, De Warren in Amsterdam, De Kamers  in Amersfoort, Nieuwe Park Rozenburgschool in Rotterdam, Bosvilla in Bergen and Dune House on the island of Terschelling.
