The Hyperion Lyceum in Amsterdam is open
The new school building of the Hyperion Lyceum is ready. On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, the festive completion of the building took place. After the start of construction in November 2016, the students were finally allowed to receive the keys. The opening was festively supported by a brass band.
After the summer holidays the Hyperion Lyceum will start in the new building with 850 pupils and all employees. The design comes from Ector Hoogstad Architects from Rotterdam who, together with pupils and teachers, have come up with a preliminary design that has been approved by the VovA board. The school will become a building that will continuously stimulate, inspire and challenge.
An underground bicycle parking cellar has been installed. The Lyceum has two entrances. One entrance is located at the Badhuiskade and a second entrance is located at the Bercylaan. The building invites you to meet and connect. Small-scale, light, safety, transparency, color and atmosphere are the core values of the design. The emphasis is on bonding, meeting and the 'family feeling'. The central open spaces form the heart of the school are learning labs as open learning areas and there are places where students can meet each other.
