Construction of gym in Rotterdam is progressing

As an international sports city, the city of Rotterdam also uses sport for social purposes. In addition, extra attention is paid to youth, the elderly and disabled people. Nice Fit! is a municipal initiative that combats overweight and physical inactivity among children and young people. To make it even easier for young people to move, the municipality of Rotterdam strengthens the relationship between sport and education. The location of the Adamshofstraat Gymnasium, within walking distance of various schools in both Kralingen-West and Kralingen-Oost, is ideal for this.

The construction of the Adamshof Gymnasium in the Lusthof neighborhood in Rotterdam started in January 2018. The gym will be built on a social site in the neighborhood, at the intersection of the schoolyard and community park. The design of the gym is a new wall at the pocket park. Artesk van Royen Architects and Ziegler | Branderhorst town planning and architecture have once again designed a robust gym in brick. During the design phase, local residents are closely involved in the (design) process.

The gymnasiums project on the Adamshofstraat includes a gymnasium of at least 550 m² net, where the room itself has a size of a maximum of 14 x 26 meters and a 'free' height of 7 meters. The other rooms consist of a storage room, dressing rooms, washrooms, teachers room and toilets.
