Preparations for International School Utrecht have started
Preparatory work for the new construction of the International School Utrech project will start soon.
Since 2019, a team consisting ofSVP Architectuur en Stedenbouw, CROSS Architecture, Copijn Landschapsarchitecten, Pieters Bouwtechniek and Adviesbureau DWA has been working on the design, commissioned by the Municipality of Utrecht, in which a healthy, green environment is central. Because nothing is better for children than a pleasant outdoor space. In fact, the terraced landscape is an integral part of the concept. At several levels, the gardens and squares make the landscape inseparable from the building by means of rolling lines of vegetation, decorative borders and height differences.
The school offers primary and secondary education to 1,200 pupils from 4 to 18 years old and after-school and childcare. Although each age category has its own entrance and place, connecting different cultures plays an important role in the design. The auditorium and a central courtyard with music studios as a connecting factor will be located in the heart of the building. You don't necessarily have to speak each other's language; Here you get to know each other playfully through music, dance and theatre.
Construction contractor Van Wijnen Arnhem B.V. and installer ITN Installatietechniek will start the preparatory work this autumn. The expectation is that lessons will start in 2027 in the new, sustainable school.
