Tower NICE Developers

On October 3, 2024, during the fifth anniversary of NICE Developers , the NICE Tower, the world's tallest circular wooden residential tower, was unveiled at the Maaspodium in Rotterdam. Jos Melchers, Director of Urban Development of Rotterdam, presented this sustainable construction project as an important step in circular high-rise construction. With a height of 140 meters and a fully biobased design, the NICE Tower sets a new standard for sustainable urban development. The building, which is designed entirely without concrete, significantly reduces CO2 emissions. Traditional towers emit an average of 450 kg CO2 per m², while the NICE Tower reduces that to 139 kg per m². This means that three of these wooden towers can be built within the same CO2 footprint as one conventional concrete tower. This means that the tower complies with the Paris Agreement and is "Paris Proof."

The tower offers affordable housing and communal facilities and contributes to biodiversity through the green terraces and nest boxes.

With this project, NICE Developers demonstrates that sustainable and inclusive high-rise buildings are the future, and the question now is which city will welcome the first NICE Tower.

NICE Tower is a development by NICE Developers. Mei architects and planners is responsible for the design. Pieters Bouwtechniek is involved as an advisor for the main supporting structure for the structural expertise. In addition, Merosch plays a crucial role in guaranteeing the sustainability of the project by being responsible for the Paris Proof calculations.
