Construction update De Schaloen Moerwijk

11 June 2024

The construction of De Schaloen in Moerwijk, The Hague is in full swing. The project consists of the construction of 570 apartments in 2 phases. Of these, 222 apartments are social rental properties and 348 are medium-priced plus private sector rental properties.

The project has made great progress in the past year. The concrete construction of phase 1 is almost ready. This phase consists of a large parking garage with a 65-meter tower, a 33-meter tower and 2 building parts of 5 layers. By building the 65m high tower with a tunnel system, the contractor is able to achieve a speed of one floor every seven working days.  The highest point will be reached this month.

Phase 2 is also in full swing. This phase includes five building parts, three of which will be located on a parking garage. The other two are separate blocks that are built separately. The sheet pile walls have now been constructed and the parking basement has been excavated. The foundation piles (Fundex) are currently being placed. The floor of the first floor is already being laid for one of the individual blocks.

The homes will have sustainable facilities for greater living comfort and lower energy consumption. They become gasless and meet the latest sustainability requirements. The outdoor area will be redesigned with a lot of attention to greenery, and the Zuiderpark is within walking distance. De Schaloen provides an attractive residential area in The Hague for families, seniors and singles.
