Start of nature-inclusive timber construction project Casa Vita celebrated
On November 7, the start of the Casa Vita nature-inclusive timber construction project was celebrated with the parties involved. A special moment for developer Blauwhoed, housing association De Goede Woning and the municipality of Pijnacker-Nootdorp, because this is their first timber construction project. As a structural engineer, Pieters Bouwtechniek is proud to contribute to this beautiful timber construction project.
The nature-inclusive timber construction project consists of two parts. The project consists of owner-occupied homes and (social) rental apartments developed by Blauwhoed. Housing association De Goede Woning has purchased 31 apartments in Casa Vita for rental to low-income tenants. Plus three private sector homes.
The timber construction is made of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), sourced from sustainably managed forests in Austria.
Timber construction
Building in wood is becoming increasingly popular. Because wood is a natural material that fits well in the pursuit of a more sustainable, circular method of development and construction. And also because wood is a 'warm' product that offers more comfort and naturally feels more pleasant than stone and concrete. Wood plays an important role at Casa Vita. A choice that is good for both residents and the surrounding area.
Wood is an age-old building material and at the same time the innovation in sustainable and circular construction. Wood does not emit CO2, but rather stores CO2 naturally. And is reusable in the future. Wood breathes, lives and feels warm, provides a lot of atmosphere and is good for people with allergies. Features that improve comfort and therefore living enjoyment. Wood simply grows under the sun and every 14 seconds a completely new house grows in Scandinavia alone. And the great thing is that forests grow back, provided they are managed sustainably.
Nature-inclusive development and construction
During the development of Casa Vita, attention was also paid to a healthy living environment. Living in a naturally designed environment demonstrably ensures a healthier and conscious lifestyle. The buildings will be located in a park-like landscape that closely matches the rural environment and where various area-specific plants enhance biodiversity. Hiking trails invite you to move and meet each other. This strengthens the character of village living and 'together with the neighborhood'.
