Construction progress Cargo building 17 at Schiphol
The construction of Cargo Building 17 at Schiphol is progressing, as can be seen in the photos opposite.
In Cargo Building 17, aircraft cargo will be unloaded on the airside of the building, after which it will be redistributed via an automated system and prepared for road transport on the landside, and vice versa.
Construction
The stability of the cargo building is provided by prefab concrete columns, placed in a grid of 22 x 24 m and clamped in the foundation. This makes the hall freely divisible and the columns can be easily dismantled.
The roof consists of laminated wooden full wall beams with steel roof plates. The floor is poured on site on HSP piles and there is a separate 2-storey building with an area of approximately 1,000 m2 called the "Eaglesnest".
A mezzanine floor for the offices of the freight handlers consists of a hollow-core slab floor and can be dismantled relatively easily because of the custom detailing.
