2 Pieter's projects nominated for the RAP71
RAP Leiden recently announced the longlist of the nominees for the Rijnlandse Architectuur Prize (RAP71) 2 Pieter's projects have been nominated.
Rijnlandse Architecture Prize
RAP071 is set up to reward and stimulate high-profile architecture in the Rhineland region. The prize is awarded every other year and consists of a public and jury prize. The conditions for the participating projects are that they have been completed between 1 July 2019 and 1 August 2021 and that they are located within one of the participating municipalities (Leiden, Leiderdorp, Oegstgeest, Zoeterwoude, Kaag en Braassem, Katwijk, Lisse, Noordwijk, Hillegom, Teylingen, Wassenaar and Voorschoten).
The 2 nominated Pieters projects are:
Netherlands Institute for Space Research (SRON)
The new building for the Netherlands Institute for Space Research (SRON) at the Leiden Bio Science Park in Leiden will provide space for SRON employees and for collaboration with top scientists from Leiden University, Delft University of Technology and for sustainable collaboration with other organizations and the businesslife.
The program for SRON includes cleanrooms, laboratories, low-vibration research areas, offices, meeting areas, support functions and technology. Furthermore, a beautiful atrium, a number of cantilevers with trusses and high beams and installations.
The building is certified according to the BREEAM-NL sustainability standard.
At the Zijl
Bij de Zijl' on the former ROC site in Leiderdorp consists of 42 owner-occupied houses: 10 water houses, 19 court houses and 13 terrace houses. In addition, there are also two apartment buildings; a 70 meter high residential tower with 104 private sector rental homes and an apartment block with 36 social rental homes.
All houses and buildings are made with a warm, light color brick, so that together they form a beautiful whole. The terrace houses and court houses are situated around a green park and some of the single-family houses are located on the water. This creates a lively and varied neighbourhood.
Award ceremony
In the coming month, a jury of experts will examine the list of nominees to arrive at a shortlist. This will be announced on September 4. From that moment on, residents from the region can cast their vote online via www.rapleiden.nl. The jury and audience prize will be awarded on Wednesday 13 October.
