Progress of STEV gym sports center in Volendam

In Volendam, people are busy building the STEV gym sports center. The building is being realized on behalf of the municipality of Edam-Volendam. The program consists of a large gymnastics hall, a gym, two dance halls and a dojo.

Characteristic place
The design by Kuiper Steur Architecten has been further developed in a construction team together with M3Energie, Pieters Bouwtechniek and Mercuur Bouw. The relationship between sustainable energy options, sustainable choice of materials, construction options and spatial and aesthetic quality have been important starting points and determine the ultimate quality of the building.

Construction
The steel construction has now been installed and the hollow-core slab floors have been laid. The truss with a span of no less than 28 meters has also been removed from the props.

The next step is to place the facade elements and roof plates, so that the concrete floor can be poured 'dry' at the location of the gymnastics hall.

The gym sports center is scheduled to be completed in October 2021.
