3 Silo houses placed on the roof of Harbour Club

Recently, 3 silos were placed on the roof of the Harbour Club with particularly heavy transport. The three old steel wine silos have been transported from the Kop van Cruquius to the Harbour Club. In this way, the 3 historic wine silos of the former wine terminal have returned to the roof of the new complex. A owner-occupied home will be placed in each silo.

Due to the size and weight (38,000 kilos each) of the silos, this was a special transport, in which various construction cranes were used. This can be clearly seen in the video of  Bouwbedrijf M.J. de Nijs en Zonen B.V., at the bottom of this article.

Harbour Club
A wine terminal was located at Cruquiusweg 1.4. Wine from all over the world was transported via ships and stored in wine silos after which it was bottled and sold. Over the years, the function of the building has changed and since 2012, The Harbour Club (THC) has moved in, a restaurant in a very beautiful location on the water.

The building is now included in an urban block that connects to the adjacent developments. The new building offers space for a 10,000 m² mixed program: the restaurant and event location of The Harbour Club, business spaces, 86 starter homes and three special city houses on the roof in the old wine silos, designed by LEVS architecten.
