Pieters part of D&B team Royal Smilde
The new head office for Royal Smilde in Heerenveen is almost ready! The design is characterized by the round shape on one side of the building. The large glass sections bring in a lot of natural light, which is pleasant for future users. A Design & Build project that we carry out together with, among others, Jorritsma Bouw, Sipma architecten, ITBB en Subvention.
The old headquarters, the first part of which was already built in 1965, no longer meets today's requirements. Renovation has been considered, but due to the expected growth of the company in the future, the construction of a new head office is a more structural solution.
The new office will be located on the piece of land where the margarine factory is located, in the bend on the Kuinder, with a view of the Tjonger. This site has been the property of Royal Smilde for many years. Enough space remains between the factory and the office for further expansion of the margarine factory. Plans are currently being made to substantially expand the current margarine plant on the remaining piece of land, next to the new office.
Thanks to Design & Build we were able to determine the best construction method. This creates a strategic vision with a faster construction time, fewer failure costs and higher quality. We work with prefabricated elements. In this way we ensure a clean construction and we can deliver within the planning. With this very "green" head office, Smilde Foods will get a building that is ready for a sustainable future.
